Eight Years

written by Strausser

This poem is dedicated to my best friend Redfrog

I have never had a friend like you
You cheer me up when I'm feeling blue
Even if you blank out when I speak
When it counts you listen to me
No matter how much of The Sentinel you refuse to watch
And even though you wont prove Paul right about your fire-crotch
And when you fight with Net or Dork
And when you laugh at Craig for sticking his head in a fork
Still I am on your mind
Everything way far behind
No matter how much we seem to fight
Give it time and we'll be all right
Thought of you are always in my head
How you're cute and funny and strong and study sped
How you have been my best friend for eight years
Through house break-ins and lying peers
With trips to Seaside and changing sex
From big birthday bashes to small car wrecks
Writing a best friend poem on Wittek's driveway
To driving to Sayerville down the Route 9 highway
From MHS to my house once a week
To nasty feet that really reek
From cats to frogs, from pink to green
To puberty boyfriends that remain to be seen
You have been there through it all
My friend, my bud, my winner-take-all
Now my roommate at Rowan U
With more fun to come from me and you
And with a toke I end this rhyme
Because I know you'll be my best friend until the end of time.
